BPCN aligns ‘Creative Food Fantasia’ programme with Government’s ‘Childhood obesity: a plan for action’

Birmingham PlayCare Network’s ‘Creative Food Fantasia’, a programme that aims to utilise materials from The Scrapstore Birmingham to produce creative objects based around the theme of food and healthy eating, has been identified as supporting the Government’s latest campaign tackling childhood obesity.

The ‘Childhood obesity: a plan for action’ was updated in January 2017 and outlines a series of plans, including introducing a soft drinks industry levy, making products healthier through innovation, updating the nutrient profile model and helping all children to enjoy an hour of physical activity every day amongst others. Emma Payne, Business Development Manager at BPCN said:

“This programme will ensure that more children benefit from a healthy start to their school day, breakfast clubs can contribute to improved attainment, attendance and overall health of children and young people.”

The expansion of healthy breakfast clubs

The Government recently announced that £10 million a year of revenue from the soft drinks levy will fund the expansion of healthy breakfast clubs.
