Children enjoy benefits when Play in Parks visited Birmingham and Leicestershire

Hundreds of children spent their half term holiday having fun outdoors when Play in Parks days swung into four different estates in and around Birmingham and Leicestershire.

Sanctuary Housing teamed up with the Birmingham Playcare Network to deliver four jam packed play days in Ashby de la Zouch, Walmley, Weoley Castle and Garretts Green, within which there are over 700 Sanctuary homes.

Children and their families were able to take part for free   and enjoy a host of activities including boxing and cricket, African drumming and meeting reptiles at an animal encounter.

Residents were also able to pick up rent, income and benefits advice from Sanctuary Housing officers, while their children were entertained.

John Silverwood, Sanctuary Housing’s housing officer, said: “The events were very successful and it was great to meet so many of our residents during the half term break.  “What a fantastic way for the community to come together and make friends while children were benefiting from learning in the outdoors.”
