Child Obesity Strategy – Food & Physical Activity Service Mapping Exercise

Child Obesity Strategy – Food & Physical Activity Service Mapping Exercise – Deadline Extended

Childhood obesity is fast becoming one of the biggest Public Health concerns in the country and Birmingham has prioritised the fight against it as one of its key targets. If we are to succeed, we all need to work together and in particular ensure children and their families are aware of the great activities and opportunities that are available in this city. To get a better understanding of the wide ranging opportunities that exist and help plan which areas we target in the future,  we are looking to map physical activity and healthy eating programmes or activities that are currently available. In return we are looking to help raise awareness of the opportunities that you provide as we develop a partnership network that shares knowledge and best practice. Programmes and activities that we are looking to map are wide ranging and could include pre natal to 16 years and families, parent and toddler groups, community clubs that provide opportunities for physical activity and health eating advice, after school clubs, community weight management programmes, sports clubs and food growing groups to name a few; as both physical activity and healthy eating programmes play a key role in improving the health of our children.

The feedback you provide will enable us to map what is available across the city and prioritise where best to place our services or focus our developments in the future, as part of the multi-agency approach to tackle childhood obesity.

Please provide us with as much information about your service and views through the Be Heard website: https://www.birminghambeheard.org.uk/people-1/food-physical-activity-service-mapping

We welcome all feedback by the closing date of Friday 3rd October 2014.
