Birmingham Be Heard opens up new 2017 consultation

Birmingham City Council’s Early Years Childcare and Children’s Centre Service Birmingham Be Heard is required to use a new ‘national formula’ from April 2017 to fund early education.

Proposed changes

The organisation has proposed changes to the hourly rates for three and four year olds; the proportion of funding that is centrally retained; and the supplements that will be applied.

A new consultation

As part of this, a consultation has been opened up, with views being ‘taken into full consideration’ throughout the finalisation process of the plans.

The plan

The finished plan will go to the Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Schools, as well as the Schools Forum in February 2017 for approval.
