Playday 2014 – theme announced!

It was recently announced that the Playday 2014 campaign theme is Play is…

Playday is the national day for play in the UK, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August, and this year’s celebration will be on 6th August 2014.

The Playday 2014 Play is… campaign is spreading the word about why play is crucial for children and young people’s health, wellbeing and happiness. The campaign recognises that:

•           Play supports children’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
•           Play promotes children’s development, creativity and independence.
•           Play allows children to find out about themselves and the world around them.
•           Playing is fun and children and young people should enjoy themselves.

Over the next few weeks, a new Facebook page is also due to be launched to support the Playday 2014 campaign and this will updated all the latest campaign news, including ideas on how you can use the Play is… campaign to spread the word about the importance of play for children and young people.

For further details please go to www.playday.org.uk.

The Playday campaign is coordinated by Play Wales, Play England, Play Scotland and PlayBoard Northern Ireland.
